Mixed Media Fabric Collage Book

Friday and Saturday, December 2-3
In this two day workshop we will create a multi-page mixed
media book pretty much from scratch. No art or sewing experience required. Using coffee-stained canvas, new and vintage fabrics, papers and textured collages you will make a book to hold in your hands and tell a story from your heart.
With images of family, a beloved pet, your favorite
flowers, cowgirls...whatever....let me show you how I make the books that
I love. Here's a cover of one of my favorites.....
And then letting the images speak to us....we will learn to
listen.
From this will come our journaling, letters or quotes.
Workshop fee....$250 due when you reserve your spot. (This class is almost full.)
$60 materials fee due at class (Wait until you see all the
fabrics and papers needed to make this book!) They come coffee-stained
for you and ready to go!

A one day Shrine (or Blessings Box) Workshop
Limited to 10
In this class you will learn the fabric collage techniques that are the signature style of my work and we will use them to transform and old drawer or cool box. Photo transfer techniques and new ways of looking at old things will
be part of the class highlights. Paint techniques to age wood will
also be taught. Fun for sure!!!
Any favorite image will work!
$142 class fee and $60 materials fee due the day of class. A selection of altar boxes, paint, vintage hardware and all other materials will be there for you. Bring an apron and your imagination and you're set!

"The Women-The Flag" is probably the only piece I make that more or less has a formula to it's concept and construction, instead of a creative free-for-all. :-) With detailed and easy to read written instructions and photos of the process...this project is a perfect candidate for a kit with a short how-to-booklet. The flag is a large piece approx 32"x50"... the size of a flag! The first one of these I ever made is in the permanent collection of the Cowgirl Museum in Ft. Worth. Instead of 50 stars I have 50 images of amazing western women. The kit will come with these 50 women or I am offering a version without my images so you can select and do your own. (This version will have the transfer paper to print your own images.)

There's more to making pieces that are based on my fabric collage style than meets the eye. Many workshop go-ers have said they would love to make another one or two, but didn't want to spend the bucks collecting all the supplies in yardage or full sheets of the handmade papers, or go thru the hassle of coffee-staining. I hear ya! Took me a year....but I hear ya! :-) I have sold fabric and doo-dad "bits" from my studio before, but never the actual complete kit to make a piece.
